Happy Women's History Month! This month is a great time to celebrate the contributions of incredible women throughout history who have made a lasting impact on our world. From early pioneers who fought for women's rights to modern day scientists and leaders, there are so many inspiring stories to explore. Let's take a moment to honor the incredible women who have shaped our society and have paved the way for future generations. Here's to a month of celebrating women's achievement and in particular, there are many inspiring female expats who have made a lasting impact on the world.

Here is our list of top female expats throughout history!

1: Harriet Tubman, an American abolitionist who escaped slavery and helped hundreds of other slaves to freedom.

Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist and social activist. Born into chattel slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 similarly-enslaved people!

2: Emma Goldman, a Russian-American anarchist who advocated for women's rights, labor rights, and free speech;

Emma Goldman was a Russian-born anarchist, political activist, and writer. She played a pivotal role in the development of anarchist political philosophy in North America and Europe in the first half of the 20th century. she eventually settled in Canada.

3: Marie Curie, a Polish-born scientist who was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the first person to win the Nobel Prize in two different sciences.

Marie Salomea Skłodowska–Curie was a Polish and naturalised-French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person to win a Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two scientific fields. She eventually settled in France.

4: Maya Angelou was an American memoirist, popular poet, and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years.

5: Lupita Nyong'o is a Kenyan-Mexican actress.
